HUBBARD SURPASSES 250 INDIVIDUAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS

MONTGOMERY -- Joe Hubbard, the Democratic nominee for Alabama House District 73, has received over 250 individual contributions in the 2010 election cycle.  Hubbard said surpassing 250 individual contributions was a milestone for the campaign.

"I'm honored and humbled at the depth and breadth of support for our campaign and our message of building a better Montgomery," Hubbard said.  "The overwhelming majority of our contributions have come from local folks who have known me all my life.  Those are the people I will answer to when elected, not the lobbyists and political insiders."

Hubbard has raised more money through individual contributions than he has raised from political groups, a rare statistic in legislative races.  By contrast, Hubbard's opponent in November, Representative David Grimes, has only received contributions from twelve individuals since the start of the campaign in June of 2009.  The remainder of Grimes' contributions has come from PACs and business interests.

Hubbard, a Montgomery native, is the seventh generation of his family to call Montgomery home.  He practices law with the firm of Webb & Eley, and is an active member of the Montgomery Kiwanis Club.  Hubbard serves on the Vestry at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, where he attends with his wife Ashley and his son Hill.  Hubbard has served as a legislative analyst in the Alabama House of Representatives, but this is his first run for public office.
